KPA Championship Night (Tuesday June 24) Updates:Siva Back to Detroit, KPA #1 adds Buckles and Brown

The 18th Annual KPA Championship Game will be played this Tuesday at 8:15p.m. at Beth Haven's Bailey Fieldhouse (5515 Johnsontown Road Louisville, Ky. 40272). KPA #1 will be without Peyton Siva. Siva will have to return to Detroit in preparation for the NBA Summer League. Siva made another major impression on the community the other night. His humble attitude and give back approach to the fans of Louisville, is a perfect example of why he is where he is today. However, KPA#1 has added Rakeem Buckles (Former Louisville Cardinal and Florida International Star), and Tyler Brown (Illinois State/D League Maine). Buckles averaged a double double last year at Florida International and will give KPA#1 a major boost on the interior. Brown is a big time player who is inches away from the NBA. Brown last summer played with the San Antonio Spurs in Vegas NBA Summer League, and this past winter played for the Maine Red Claws in the DLeague.

Game Previews:

The 18th KPA Championship game (Read History of event here!history/c66t ) should be very interesting, and exciting. If everything works out and rosters are complete on this night it could be one of the best KPA finals ever. KPA #1 will be lead by Chris Dowe (Bellarmine/Portugal) . Dowe and Peyton Siva combined for 64 points in a 106 to 103 victory over KPA 3 on Thursday night. Dowe went to war on Thursday on both ends of the floor. Siva motivated everyone to raise their game to another level as he showed the winner he is. KPA #1 had not won a game until Siva showed for the playoffs on Thursday. KPA#1 will be without Siva in the finals because he will return to Detroit to prepare for the summer league. KPA#1 has added DLeague standout Tyler Brown (Illinois State/Maine DLeague). Brown is a highlight reel and will be a pleasure for KPA fans. He played last summer with San Antonio in the Vegas summer league. Rakeem Buckles (6-9 Florida International) has been added to the roster. Buckles averaged a double double at FI this year, after transferring from Louisville. KPA #1 has gotten excellent play from several current college players: Jermaine Jackson (Florida Tech), Sean Brown (Union College), and Tony Horne (Lindsey Wilson).

They will take on a talented Team Southern Indiana led by Darryl Baker (Lincoln Trail J.C. and future High Major D1 player), and Antonio Ballard (Miami Ohio/NBL All Star Canada). Baker is a big time scoring wing who can knock down the 3 or penetrate to the hole at will. Ballard averaged 35ppg. in first two games in the KPA but was in Ohio this past week. Ballard being at the game will be huge for Team SI to compete in this one. Also Team SI has gotten big time guard play from Chris Whitehead (Fordham transfer) and Tenale Roland (Utah State 14). Whitehead and Roland are a solid guard tandem. Team SI also has a solid low post game with 6-7 Kegan Clark (IU Southeast), Donnie Hale 6-8 (Purdue/Bellarmine *current) and Terrance Farley 6-10 (Louisville/several overseas stops).
