Trenton Thompson Signs in Finland

Former Harrison County High School (Kentucky) and Asbury University star Trenton Thompson has signed his first pro contract to play with Pernion Urheilijat Baskets/Vilpas Vikings next season. Pernion Urhelijat Baskets is the second team of Salon Vilpas (top league Finland). He is allowed to play on both teams if needed because of his age. Thompson (6-6 F/G) was an NAIA All American last season at Asbury University and scored 2,415 points in his career and had 756 career rebounds. He was named 2018 River States Conference Player of the Year. He also was a standout in the 2019 SBS Pro Invitational for college seniors held in April. He later signed an agency contract with Free Agency Basketball (Spain) after the SBS Pro Invitational. "David Gonzalez (President of Free Agency Basketball/FIBA Agent) and I are extremely excited for Trenton. This is a great opportunity for him and a great career builder for him. Salon Vilpas is big time organization who had a 36-11 record last year in Korisliliga (top league) Finland. He will be able to play for Pernion Urhelijat Baskets and practice with the top team and possibly play. This is like a Gleague situation here in the United States. His body of work at Asbury is well deserving of this opportunity. He was well coached playing under Will Shouse at Asbury University and is a high character guy. His wife Kayla will also be able to go with him which is rare for a rookie in European basketball. The whole deal is a true blessing" said Michael Stinnett (Free Agency Basketball Director of Scouting). Trenton Thompson makes the 10th Free Agency Basketball player to sign for the 2019-20 season. Free Agency/SBS will host the 23rd Annual KPA Vegas Pro Summer League next week July 5-7 in Las Vegas. *See Trenton Thompson highlight below!
